What? Are two pastors going to box each other? I wish. Actually I was just wondering what would happen if we (the United Methodist Church) leveraged communication the way North Point Church does?
North Point is a church pastored by Andy Stanley and on any given Sunday he preaches several times in several locations. No, he does not use some sort of demonic magic but rather video to communicate to several congregations at once.
Most people who know James King, the Bishop of the South Georgia Conference, know that he is also a very special communicator. Most of his talks are laced with “beautiful people” in reference to his audience. Methodist churches surge near record numbers when he comes to town to speak. My question is wouldn’t it be great if we could leverage technology to hear from our Bishop more often on Sundays? We could have a great Sunday morning message, more united vision, and couldn’t we all stand to be called “beautiful people” more often?
